Christ In You The Hope of Glory

“For it has pleased God to tell His people that the riches and glory of Christ are for you gentiles, too. For this is the secret, Christ lives in you, and this is your assurance that you will share in his glory. Colossians 1:27.” It pleased God to tell His people, the Jews, that the riches and glory of Christ are for you and I (gentiles). When the bible speaks of gentiles, it’s referring to anyone who accepts Jesus Christ as their Savior, but is not from a Jewish background. That person gets to share the inheritance and the blessings of the Jewish people because of Christ. All the riches and glory of Christ belongs to the children of God. As I read this scripture, the Lord brought to my remembrance the story of the Prodigal son. In that parable, the older brother is a representation of the Jewish people and the younger brother, the one not deserving of anything from the Father, represents the gentiles. The younger brother did not deserve to be welcomed and restored by the Father, but he was because the Father loved him. The Father accepted the son back as though he had never offended Him. As gentiles, we get to experience blessings and privileges that we never deserved or qualify for because of Jesus. As the scripture reads, “All the riches and glory in Christ, belongs to us because Christ lives in us.”

One thing I love about this scripture is the phrase “it pleased God”. God was not reluctant to make us “join heirs and co-heirs” with him and Christ. Romans 8:17. It pleased him to show us off to His chosen people. It pleases God to bless us, to heal us, and to deliver us. He is pleased when we call upon Him as His children. He loves and accepts us. However, we must have Jesus Christ as our Savior. The second part of the verse says “this is the secret, Christ lives in you, and this is your assurance that you will share in His glory”. Christ must live in you for you to share his riches and glory. So, if you have not accepted Christ, just pray this simple prayer. Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God, that you died on the cross to rescue me from sin and death and to restore me to the Father. I choose now to turn from my sins, and make You my Lord and Savior. Come reign in my heart, fill me with your love and your life, and help me to do the Father’s will, in Jesus name I pray. Amen. Once you have accepted Christ, the riches and glory He has are now yours. If you have made this life changing decision to follow Christ, I congratulate you! Find a bible believing church and let the Pastor know your decision to follow Christ.

So, what are these riches and glory Colossians 1:27 is speaking of? I believe it’s all the benefits a person receives when Jesus becomes their Lord. Such as, Salvation, victory over sin, good health, healing, favor, protection, provision, joy, peace, and prosperity in all you do that is of God. I believe the glory of Christ in this verse is our heavenly position. When we die, we will reign with Christ in heaven, enjoying the glory the Father has given Him. We will not have to suffer or endure hardship as we have on this earth. There will be no more sickness or death to worry about, just a gloried life with the Father and Jesus!

When I ponder about the goodness of God, it makes me love and appreciate Him much more. The fact that we weren’t deserving of his goodness, and He still gave it to us freely through Christ, makes my heart leap with joy! Our Father is good God! Glory be to his name, forever, Amen!

I pray that this 2018, we will always remember that God is not mad at us. He loves us and is pleased with us. He desires to have a relationship with us. All we must do is call upon Him!

Stay bless, keep the faith, and have a prosperous 2018!
