Philippians 2:5 tells us to have the mind of Christ, which means having a mind of humility and unity. We should respect and admire others, as well as, consider their needs, interests, and overall wellbeing. As for me, having the mind of Christ takes daily practice of surrendering to the Holy Spirit and allowing him to teach me how to think like Christ. It is not my natural tendency to wake up in the morning thinking like Christ. I can be selfish and self-centered at times which is definitely not the mind of Christ. So what do I do if I want to think like Christ? Well I have to submit to the Holy Spirit, study the word of God and let God transform my thinking. Romans 12:2. Also what helps me is to speak the words of God over my life. What you confess is what you will possess. Below is a confession I often speak over my life. I hope you find it helpful.
I declare in the name of Jesus that I have the mind of Christ according to Philippians 2:5. Every day, I am thinking more and more like Christ. Every day, I am loving people more and more like Christ. Every day, I am becoming more and more forgiving just as Christ is. I celebrate the goodness of God in the life of people. I will not hate because Christ does not hate. I will not be jealous or envious because Christ is not jealous or envious. I will not allow strife into my heart and I will “esteem others better than myself (Phil 2:3)” because this is the will of God for my life. Amen!
My sisters in Christ I hope you find this helpful.
